Krakiipedia:Becoming an editor
From Krakiipedia, the unofficial free GemStone IV encyclopedia.
Krakiipedia is primarily a player-driven documentation effort, and in itself a small community dedicated to bringing you information about GemStone IV and Elanthia. If you're interested in contributing to this effort, which I assume is the case, as you are reading this page, then read on. If you are NOT interested in contributing to Krakiipedia, then there is no need to request to become an editor. Anyone is able to fully access and view any page found in Krakiipedia.
If you're still interested in becoming an editor, just fill out the request form below. Please note that this process is NOT fully automated, and will eventually end up in the hands of a sysop who will be the individual who ultimately creates your account. Remember, sysops are people too, and they might not be around to create the account the second your portion of the process is complete.
Once you have an account, check out our style guide for some detailed information on the way we do things around here. Unsure of where to start contributing? Check out the list of stub articles and see if there is one you'd like to flesh out -- or the list of undefined articles and see if you can help get some of the red out of Krakiipedia -- or the list of dead end pages and help them get into the Wiki spirit and wikify them!
Editor Account Request Form
Why my PLAY.NET account name?
Krakiipedia is first and foremost a part of the GemStone and Simutronics community. As such, we have decided that editing privileges should only be granted to individuals who actually play the games, or at least contribute to the community in some manner. Additionally, the use of account names lends a level to accountability to editors. People are less prone to acts of silliness when they can be readily and uniquely identified.
As such, please make sure that your PLAY.NET account's forwarding email address is correctly configured and working so the confirmation email that is sent makes it through to you.
Is this secure?
While there is nothing particularly insecure about giving away your account name, which may already be visible to the internet at large if you post on the official message boards, you should always be wary when divulging any personal or potentially sensitive information. Krakiipedia uses your PLAY.NET account name you send you a confirmation email and to subsequently set up your editor account with the same name. Krakiipedia DOES keep a master list of all account names which have requested accounts, but this is only used to facilitate tracking of account confirmation and general bookkeeping.
Krakiipedia and its administrators will never ask you for the password, security question or billing information related to your PLAY.NET account.
